Memorial Day Means an Increase in Traffic Fatalities

Memorial Weekend is approaching and that means so are an increase in fatalities on the road. Yes, there will be an increase of people on the road but do your best to avoid becoming a statistic.

Don’t drink or drive.

Don’t tailgate.

Don’t use your phone while driving.

And if you are too tired to drive home, simply don’t! Stay where you are and drink another beer.

The National Safety Council has released its estimates for traffic crashes for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend, which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 25, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 28. The Council estimates 420 traffic fatalities and another 42,000 medically consulted injuries will occur over the traditional summer kick-off weekend from motor vehicle collisions.

I hope you all have a safe Memorial weekend.

Minute Clinic Giveaway

CVS Minute Clinic sent me a mighty nice goody bag after Mom2Summit a few weeks back. And now I have one to send to you!

I like that the Minute Clinic says they are passionate about healthy families because Fix The Toaster is passionate about this as well, behind the wheel and in streets specifically speaking.

To enter simply leave a comment explaining how and/or why you choose to drive safe. I will keep the raffle open until this Sunday, May 27th. Then I will randomly pick a winner.

The bag is full of goodies such as:

Once you are chosen I’ll post it here and you can email me to give me your address.

AT&T Unites With Verizon Wireless, Sprint & T-Mobile United

AT&T has united with Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Moblie United to make the “It Can Wait” campaign even bigger.

How cool is that?!

Now we just need car companies to stop making their douche bag drive fast on empty roads, with small barely legible writing that basically says this is dangerous don’t do it, commercials.

But also says without any writing, do this.

Car Crashes Have Very Little To Do With Luck

Car crashes are mostly preventable.

Very little luck is involved.

Being careful, paying attention, not speeding or tailgating, etc.

Here is a great song I heard today on KCRW called “Get Lucky.” BTW I’m pretty sure most females, when polled, would say that being a passenger in a car of a speeding driver is not going to end with you getting lucky.

Just putting it out there.
