Memorial Weekend is approaching and that means so are an increase in fatalities on the road. Yes, there will be an increase of people on the road but do your best to avoid becoming a statistic.
Don’t drink or drive.
Don’t use your phone while driving.
And if you are too tired to drive home, simply don’t! Stay where you are and drink another beer.
The National Safety Council has released its estimates for traffic crashes for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend, which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 25, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 28. The Council estimates 420 traffic fatalities and another 42,000 medically consulted injuries will occur over the traditional summer kick-off weekend from motor vehicle collisions.
I hope you all have a safe Memorial weekend.
A big thanks to all who participated in Fix The Toaster’s first Twitter Party today.
Thank you Sue, Laurie, Shannon, Be Car Chic, Margaret, Party Program Windsor and Precious Premie Project.
I can’t say for sure that #fixthetoaster was trending
But there was conversation about something really important going on and a thanks to all!
CVS Minute Clinic sent me a mighty nice goody bag after Mom2Summit a few weeks back. And now I have one to send to you!
I like that the Minute Clinic says they are passionate about healthy families because Fix The Toaster is passionate about this as well, behind the wheel and in streets specifically speaking.
To enter simply leave a comment explaining how and/or why you choose to drive safe. I will keep the raffle open until this Sunday, May 27th. Then I will randomly pick a winner.
The bag is full of goodies such as:
Yes, I have funky nail polish on this week.
There is a ton more of great product in the bag as well.
So, let’s hear it, how and or why do you drive safely?
Once you are chosen I’ll post it here and you can email me to give me your address.
Someone just sent me a link to this video.
Very funny with a good message.
Fix The Toaster will be having our first Twitter party this Thursday from 12-1PM to talk about, what else, car crashes.
Who wants to join that conversation?
Hopefully some of you will.
Use the hashtag #fixthetoaster
Looking forward to it.
AT&T has united with Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Moblie United to make the “It Can Wait” campaign even bigger.
How cool is that?!
Now we just need car companies to stop making their douche bag drive fast on empty roads, with small barely legible writing that basically says this is dangerous don’t do it, commercials.
But also says without any writing, do this.
Car crashes are mostly preventable.
Very little luck is involved.
Being careful, paying attention, not speeding or tailgating, etc.
Here is a great song I heard today on KCRW called “Get Lucky.” BTW I’m pretty sure most females, when polled, would say that being a passenger in a car of a speeding driver is not going to end with you getting lucky.
Just putting it out there.
